The deadline was Sunday 14th of December and we finished, it was a 2 week long project which turned out to be quite enjoyable, I created the environment whereas a friend (Dan Stead) created the zombie character.

My environment specifications (not including the zombie characters into my budget) are as follows:
4,945 Triangles
1x 512×512 (split into 13x 128×128 with 3x 128×128 space left over) Diffuse Texture (with the Opacity textures in the Alpha channel)
1x 256×256 Diffuse Texture for the Skybox.

Started texturing the props, this is only the first batch, more props and textures to come.

Having a go at a low poly contest over at polycount, working together with a friend who is doing the characters for the scene, I am doing the environment.
This is an early work in progress showing basic blocking out of the scene, it won’t be this neat and tidy when I’m finished with it.

Quick overview of the environment brief:
“Portray a ‘ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE’ story: Your SURVIVORS are defending their SAFE HOUSE as its under attack by ZOMBIES (small group, huge horde… its up to you).”

  • 5000 Triangles maximum
  • Diffuse + opacity textures only.
  • 512×512 maximum for all textures combined
  • 128×128 maximum for individual textures
  • 256×256 total for effects/particles/atmospherics
  • No anti aliasing & texture filtering.
